The purpose of this course is to increase knowledge and expertise in advanced physical,
psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural assessment and enhance diagnostic knowledge
required for maintaining health for patients across the lifespan. A holistic and comprehensive
approach to the patient is emphasized with particular attention to identifying the
health promotion and disease prevention needs as well as the management of common
signs and symptoms that present to patients across the lifespan. This course also
provides the learner an opportunity to learn various clinical and diagnostic skills
performed by the advanced practice nurse. Learners will be required to complete three
consecutive days of in-person applied field experience during Week 15 of the course.
The applied field experience will be held over three days near Nightingale College’s
(College) Operations Support Center in Salt Lake City. The purpose of the applied
field experience is to provide a review and competency check of previously obtained
knowledge and skills and allow learners to participate in service-learning activities.
