Credit Transfers

The transfer of credit deadline for Spring Semester 2025 is November 22, 2024.

Transfer Courses

Nightingale College welcomes learners from a wide variety of backgrounds, learning experiences and institutions of higher learning. Because Nightingale College encourages learners to achieve their professional and academic dreams as efficiently as possible, we accept many general education (GE) and technical courses completed at institutions of higher learning that have been accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or certain non-U.S. institutions of higher learning.

Coursework Completed at Non-U.S. Institutions of Higher Learning

The College will evaluate coursework completed at non-U.S. institutions of higher learning for transfer of credit based on the criteria described in the Transfer of Credit section of the Catalog. For transfer of credit to be considered, learners must submit official coursework equivalency evaluations and official transcripts, along with English translation, completed by the credential evaluation services of an agency that has published standards for membership, affiliations to U.S.-based international higher education associations, and are frequently linked to and used by federal agencies, state agencies, educational institutions and employers (e.g., NACES and AICE).

Transfer of Credit

Only official transcripts are accepted as proof of completion of previous coursework at other institutions. To be considered for transfer of credit, general education (GE) and technical courses must be completed at an institution of higher learning accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or certain non-U.S. institutions of higher learning. See below for transfer credit requirements and specific types of transfer credit accepted.

The Registrar’s Office will complete a transfer evaluation upon receipt of your official college transcripts. Please email your official transcripts to Transcripts@nightingale.edu

Transfer Credit Appeal

Upon completion of an official transcript review, learners will receive a Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE). If there is a particular course to be reconsidered that is not present on the TCE, learners may contact the Registrar’s office to submit a Transfer Credit Appeal form with a corresponding syllabus from the institution where the course was completed. The deadline for submission of credit appeals is 5:00 PM MT twenty-four (24) days prior to the start of an academic semester.

Please submit your Credit Appeal form and syllabus to: CreditAppeal@Nightingale.edu

Extra-institutional and Non-instructional Learning

Recognizing that learning occurs in extra-institutional and non-instructional settings, the College evaluates and awards appropriate undergraduate level credit for such learning through use of nationally recognized, nontraditional learning testing programs acknowledged in the ACE Guide to Educational Credit by Examination. These examinations include AP, CLEP, DLPT, DSST, and ECE.

Experiential Learning

The College does not award credit for experiential learning, except as noted below.

The College will evaluate learning acquired through specialized military training and occupational experience for granting academic credit when applicable to a servicemember’s or veteran’s degree program.

The College recognizes and uses the American Council on Education (ACE) Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services in determining the value of learning acquired in military service, and awards credit for appropriate learning acquired in military service at levels consistent with the ACE Guide recommendations and/or those transcribed by the Community College of the Air Force, when applicable to a servicemember’s program. The College recognizes and uses the ACE National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training in determining the value of experiential learning when applicable to a degree program.
